Do Tegs hold out that good?
Well, unfortunately I rear-ended somebody last week. But I was amazed to see that the guys whole metal bumper basically bent down while my OEM bumper just had a crack in it. Are our bumpers really that sturdy?
i was rear ended at about a 20mph difference by a grand marquis and my rear bumper sustained minor damage. if it was a foot higher however, the car would be FUBAR.

Yes.
The structural part that absorbs crash damage is underneath the bumper and is quite sturdy. Don't let that plastic cover fool you.

Well good. Cuz I was scared to death to get out of the car and see the damage. But luckily, it's still driveable and not really to that embarrasing point yet. Just waiting for the replacement to come in.

it really depends where you get hit... i've had accidents in my teg that seem small, and when the insurance adjuster writes the estimate, it comes out to be expensive...
here's one of my most recent: scratched front bumper cover, dented fender, scratched headlight... what i got paid: $1660

yeah, when my car got rear ended and squished under the truck infront of me (totalled), i got a ton more money that i expected from their insurance...$10500 for a '96 ls with 65k miles on it! that's how i got my gsr
The thing is honda/acura care more about their radiators cracking then the people inside the car my brother rear ended me in his accord and the accord just needed new head lights and a new hood and the whole underside of my teg was pushed up, this was a 55mph crash and the airbags never deployed on the accord or my teg; i think that honda/acura just made their front ends really strong but not really the rear end
I can vouch for their toughnes, i have a 94 LS and fell asleep going to work and hit a tree at about 60 mph. By the time I woke up i was like 10 feet from the tree...so didnt get to slow down at all. Anyway as for the damage, suprisingly the tree stopped before the exhaust manifold and tranny...the bumper support did surprisingly well for a small car, the rail was bent slightly, but i mean it SHOULD have been a lot worse. It's almost put back together now, and you cant even tell.
my frined got in a accident a cuple weeks bak he hit a integra with his civic si and the tegs bumber fell off.. i don't remember whtqa kind it was but it wasn't a stock bumber.. and <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by LSvtec03 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i think you guys got lucky. this is what happened to me when a cutlass backed into me a couple months ago.

guys here ask questions all the time and there isn't a catch all answer for this.
i think the real answer is, it depends...
where on the car the impact is, whom or what is hit, at what speed and at what angle...
any car that's going to get in a collision will incur damages. Integras are well made but they arent hummers.
