Ordered a new distrib. and have some questions
I ordered a new distributor for my 90 DA and I have my old one off of the car. I need to bring the old one back to get my core charge back (90 bucks). My question is: What will the new one come with? Should I remove the old harness and ignitor? The people at the store don't know and I won't know until I see it. Does anybody have any ideas?
i know that at the dealer you just get the housing, basically everything except the good stuff, igniter, coil cap&rotor...
Yeah, I got mine from Autozone. It came with the housing, ignitor, and coil pack. Basically everything except for the rotor and cap. 235 bucks but I got 90 bucks back for the core which I used 30 bucks of for a new rotor and cap. Oh well.
Do you know if the entire dizzy is bad? Wouldnt you just rather replace whatever is wrong w. it like coil or ignitor? Maybe not. I would think that it would come with the wiring harness since the stock one is well, iremoveable unless you clip the wires. Just wait untill you see the dizzy.

I already got the new distrib. now. It came with the coil, ignitor and the harness. Everything except the rotor and cap. The problem was the distrib. I got a check engine light for the CPS (crank position sensor) which means to replace the distributor.
The bearings didn't sound too nice when I first started it but, the nasty sound went away.
Now I have a bad surging problem between 2500rpm and up. Could be the old wires, seeing how I pulled two out and the metal piece that slides onto the spark plug came out of the wire. Dunno, the 230,000 mile Integra troubleshooting continues.

Probably, but, it is really bad now. Stutters when I am just cruising with the cruise control on. The car is really slow now too. I have played with the timing a lot too. Doesn't do much good since I don't have a timing light but, my prediction is it won't do any good.
I was thinking it was the o2 sensor cuz it doesn't miss at idle at all.

I found out a few things that caused the surging problem and causing the car to be really slow. I had the timing really retarded for one thing (I thought I advanced it but, I was wrong) and I still need a timing light to set it perfectly right (it is just a little advanced right now).
I also took the connections to the ignitor, which were really loose, and put dielectric tune up grease on all of the connections and tightened the slide on spades with a pair of needle nose pliers. 90 percent of the surging is gone now and the car is a lot faster. My spark plugs are white and the plug wires are messed up and the o2 sensor is the original one I believe. So, I have a few more things to fix but, those connections inside the distributor made a big difference. Good thing to add to your troubleshooting list.
