what would you do ?
i want to swap something into my daily driver '91 civic lx sedan. i don't want to spend alot of money, i'm probably shooting for ~2500 ish max. i want the car to be fun to drive, i don't really care about which is the quickest, or which has the most potential down the road. its my "family car" which will carry the baby seat in the back so there will be no quarter miles or road courses for this one. what i'm looking for is suggestions on which motor would be most recommended. if i leave something out feel free to insert opinions
d15?? - motor in car, somehow put $2500 into it
d16a6 - all motor
d16a6 - turboed
b16a1 - with basic bolt-ons
b20b - with basic bolt-ons
remember i would only be putting in ~2500 in the project ... thats just for motor though, not suspension or anything else. that will be looked at seperately.
every other day i "decide" on a different set-up and my girl is laughing at me because i change my mind so much
so anyone want to offer some advice ?

This is where the 4th gen/2nd gen CRX get their beauty.
Personally, for a very easy swap, I went with a SOHC VTEC motor. It is affordable, has great power for the street, and will give you a good surprise. With good bolt-ons, cam, built head, and proper managment, you should be in low 15s. Witht a turbo, you should be well into the 13s if you dont skimp. (Yes I know you said no drag races, but just trying to gove you a comparison) As for support and maintnance, It is great.
Now, IMO, if you have the money, going with the B-series platform put you in a much better postion. With just a simple B16 swap you should be in the 14 already. I have always felt that the B16 should have been in the Si's here in the stated to begin with. The swap is a little harder, but not by too much. Now the B20 does have plenty of low end tourqe for the heavy 4 door lx.
In your situation, I might go with the B20. It should be easy to maintain. You should also be able to get lenty of mile out of it.

SInce you are talking B20.... B18A1s are pretty easy to find, and cheap, and are OBD0 for the same model years as your car..
I'm building a B18A1 for my 1991 Hatch right now...

dont give this guy any suggestions. he will take them then change his mind 5 minutes later. its a waste of your time...hahaha
just kidding. this guy is cool, or atleast he thinks...
go with the 90-91 teggy motor...should be fairly easy swap and give you some decent stret power. especially since you are gonna put a little boost on it.
