Default No love.....

What a day. After a 2 year long build...I finally made my way to the dyno...

Car started smoking on the way over there. Motor is perfect...only thing I can pic it to is the turbo. But it has 0 miles on it...haha

Check this return line and help me figure out what else to do with it. I think the oil is backing up in the turbo and pushing the seal.

Its just me, but why don't you break the motor in before you go dynoing it? That way you let the rings seat and everything before you start revving the hell out of it and everything. To me it looks like that return line is pretty straight. I don't think that's kincked enough to stop the flow IMO.

YEah like I stated...the motor is perfect. I logged 1200 miles on it before I put the turbo setup on.

those are some nice welds you got there. why are you using the stainless braided lines and fittings btw? I know it is probably better but dont the rubber hoses work just fine? well if the turbo has been sitting around for a long while there may be some crap in the turbo that needs to be burned off so thats hopefuly what the smoke is that you are seeing. take off the piping by the tb and turbo and look inside there might be some gunk there.

ps this is not what i wanted to hear from you with fridays meet coming up so quickly.

Rubber Hose for Return Line = No No...that **** kinks easy and you'll blow the seals on your turbo.

Yeah, that is the truth. It definately isnt burning anything off because it is getting worse the more I boost on it.

The braided line is much more reliable in my past experiences vs rubber hoses.

I do not think I am going to make it to the H-T meet. On the way home.....car died...around 8 pm. Trouble shot on the side of the road with my helms, spare main relay, spare hondata....verified that the ecu died. I had a chipped P28 but it wasnt going to idle my 75lbsers.

not a big ol' rubber hose, just one that drops oil straight into the pan. not trying to make a huge line that wraps around everything in the motor but a simple straight drop like he has with the stainless line. if the oil isnt pressurized then wouldnt that work just fine as opposed to kinking the oil on those fittings. ??

mine comes straight off the turbo and falls into the pan. i am prone to believing that this setup has to work better and has to be mmore freeflowing than the little kinks on the fittings.

I may try getting a steel line bent...-12 or something. MY problem is the combo of the turbo sitting low and the oil return fitting so high.

Think it's possible that there is a ceramic coating on one of your items that makes it smoke? Maybe it's just burning off, long shot but it's possible. Just my guess.

My personal opinion is the turbo. NO matter how well you prime it, it would always blow the seals. The webmaster from clubSi had the same problem when he and I installed his DRAG kit on it. I will never buy a turbo from Turbonetics. I think he sent it back twice for the same problem, then went Vortech.

This is rediculously simple suggestion, but is there too much oil in the pan? Hell, Sport Compact Car magazine did a swap and they couldn't get to stop smoking. It turns out they filled it up with oil without draining the old oil.

I would suggest getting a steel.. or aluminum return flange.. Then weld a bent tube directly to it.. Then slide the braid over that and clamp it down. Getting rid of the 1/2"--10 fitting should give you another inch or so and that might be all you need to make it work right

Yeah, I think that is what I am going to try and get made. I am going to bring the entire thing assembled into a hose shop and have them make it.
