Help, Pulled CELs this morning
Ok pulled my codes this morning.....
#1: C.E.L. 21 VTEC Solenoid Valve...
Now at first I thought this was just code 22 (Oil Pressure Switch) but it's not. I think I just need to replace the VTEC Solenoid.
#2: C.E.L. 6 Coolent Temperature...
Now could I just be low on coolent? Could I just need a flush?
Also when I pull code #2, my ABS light flashes with it :wtf: :gotme:
Any ideas on either of the codes?
Important notes:
1. I have a 99 JDM ITR motor
2. I have converted to OBDI
3. I have a spoon thermostat

If I had a $.05 for every time I got a code 21, I'd have a few $'s in my pocket. My recommendation is simple. Take the VTEC solenoid apart. Make sure the spool valve isn't sticking. Sometimes small metal shaving get lodged in their and cause it to stick. Make sure to push it in a bunch of times, spin it, just make sure it seems to work properly without sticking. If so, then the solenoid itself is probably okay. Put it back together remembering to clean the little screen filter. It being clogged also causes the CEL.
For whatever reason, mine had no metal shavings and the screen was clean, but just pushing the spool valve up and down and putting it back together stopped me from getting these completely random CEL's that I had for over 18 months.
You could also try contact cleaner on all the electrical connections. If those do work, then you might need a new VTEC solenoid, but I personally doubt you do.
