my aem out J's intake in..(short review)
just got my j's and the first thing is wow. it's totally different from my aem..
Throttle response is crazy compared to aem but disappoints me at vtec.
but i still like it .. alot more low end power.
PS: thx to bob dc2
I felt the same way when I changed out.
AEM felt better top end power but the J's just offers great midrange with unparraled throttle response.

I'm suprised at the low amount of poeple using the Spoon intake setup. If your track racing no much beats it... Stock intake boxes do alot more than people give them credit for. They just need a little help...

What's that? A foam filter element to replace the paper one?

that's the only one i guess. he must be talking about spoon drop in filter.
that is NOT a intake. it's just replacement filter
i dont think spoon ever made a intake for itr

I'm with Mario here.... The car felt sick.....I had the Spoon one then the Comptech one...admittedly there was no dryer hose making it a "ram air" setup....but the car just felt as if it was choking and gasping for air.....
ARC box did marginally better....I'm still on the AEM bandwagon.....

glad you like the new intake. but remember butt dyno is more inaccurate than accurate. the human brain percieves louder sound=more powerful engine
and when the aem hits vtec it is loud as hell.
i have had all 3 intake (aem, comptech, j's) and I doubt the j's loses power in vtec. also remember the aem has the lil power hump that is designed into the intake.
if you wanted more power, you could make a custom heatshield and or get a better filter (k&N)

Has anyone ever connected some dryer piping to the endof the j's for a Cold air line? I'm thinking about going that route b/c of the cone around the filter seeming easy to work with...also perhaps a little screen on the end of the piping to stop like leafs and **** from going up and getting stuck on the filter....i dunno, just a thought.
i put a 3-sided plexiglass box around mine and connect 4" tubing to it.
i can post up pics again.
it is similar to endyns intake, but I didnt see his till after mine. his is done way better too.

How good is teh little heatshield that comes with the Js intake. Couldnt you just attach a hose directly to the hole at the end of the heatshield that comes with it?

I was going to say the same thing, or something very similar.
The sound is very deceiving, as is going by the vtec xover sound/feel. Usually the butt dyno is dead wrong, except obviously with adding a turbo or something like that.

hey.. you guys with or had J's before.. i have question..
see the blue hose? and there was stock metal one on there. i just removed it from valvecover, and from intake. and still hanging down there... with 2 small black hose and i just connected j's to valvecover with blue hose..
so what do i do with the stock one. ?

I told you the answer in your other J's thread.
Use the blue hose like you are using now.
Get a heater hose (probably 3/8" ID, but maybe less, i'm not sure) from autozone or any store like that and replace the metal 'stock' hose/line. That is the easiest way. You may leak some coolant, so do it fast, have a rag or three, and refill the resevoir when you are done.

I believe the line thats there is for the coolant to flow through. There was a debate about that because the point of the coolant hose is to warm the throttle body for cars that are driven in cold climates to prevent the throttle plate from being frozen or something like that. I doubt you'd lose any power that you can feel with it cut off. I don't think it effects the incoming air temperature that much because the intake manifold itself conducts head from the head. I think the Hondata intake manifold gasket would make more power than bypassing it. When i got my AEM, i just disconnected it from the metal piece and used all rubber.
I had my stock intake in there for a while, i crammed the huge K&N mushroom into the air box without the resonator and the throttle response was a lot better. The stock airbox and intake just felt more restrictive. Felt like 3rd gear was taking longer than usual. Once again, another *** dyno answer but i can clearly say that i think almost any aftermarket intake is better than the stock setup. With the resonator off, it helps a lot more.

I never heard any complaints about the "big j's carbon *****." The sound and better low end power is awesome, and it's fun to watch the responses of your friends when you pop the hood

Well I just ordered my J's CF intake today through Leo
Thanks man!!! Can't wait to get that installed. Currently running AEM cold air intake w/ bypass valve.

oh yeah it's good stuff. looking is good with all carbonfiber bling bling and it's very funtional IMO. and i feel my rpm rises little faster than it used to be.
It's got very nice loud and deep sound when you step on gas and the whole car vibrates. but more quite at vtech compared to aem.
so far it's
for me
