Default Why r the rules always changing to help the slower racer...

I wonder why NHRA /IDRC/ NOPI change there rules mid season , and they always seem to effect the faster guy....Is it his fault that you didnt do any r&d over the season break, or that you didnt change that tried *** combo of yours ...
we often here people ask who will be next to set this or that record...???

We should start working harder on our whips to get faster and stop punishiung the next man for his success....

please let me know what you guys think about rules changes and if you were ever badly effected ...
p.s. this is just my thoughts about rule changes thanks ....

The rules are changed to not give one person or setup a advantage over the other. The sport is still new and with new setups and ideas coming out every week rules must be changed to make sure it doesn't get out of control.

I think the problem is that people build the cars and they go faster and faster than what the rules are effective for, so they change them. But thats my $.02

I wouldn't complain, it's all about safety. Safety first, speed next. again that is $.02 of my cents.

I have never been effected by the rules but my car (did run) 15's lol I do have a 6-point cage and also have relocated the battery to the trunk. But I got a box fo that for $80, NHRA Legal box. and ya the switch to. I always do stuff to be NHRA legal cuz I thinks it's better that way. I think IHRA isn't as strict and the two tracks close to me are IHRA. So i go with the NHRA standard that way I know for sure it will pass tech. $.02 you got 6 cents from me. Thats enough, money is tight right now

Rules get changed for safety and competitive reasons. Sure safety first, but if the same people keep ending up in the final four of every race people begin to lose interest and don't come to the races anymore. I know you think that the guy under you didn't do his r&d but what if he did and just didn't have the money to do anything about it yet? I know that I did R&D for over about 3 years and I just started building my car 6 months ago. Most people just don't have the money to dump 10-15,000 dollars into a car that just gets abused

Why, what's wrong with your heads? *pun intended*

I believe it's to keep things EVENLY competitive. But I'm sure there are other reasons too.

Having the same guy/guys up top isn't always a bad thing. Look at John Force in Funny Car - 10 straight championships? And that's arguably the most popular spectator class in NHRA. Not saying the import world has a character like Force yet, but....

In terms of rule changes, I think things have come far enough now that rules should begin to stabilize. You shouldn't be rewarded or penalized for choosing one engine over another. Just set a fixed weight and displacement (a la NHRA domestic Pro Stock), or set a weight/displacement ratio (a la NDRA). If you're going to allow aftermarket heads/blocks/trannies, then everyone can use them. Otherwise no one can use them.

I hope NHRA will move in that direction. NOPI is doing a good job on it right now. IDRC has missed the boat on rules in the past (don't know what they're doing know, haven't bothered to check this season).

im scratching mine too. maybe i should get a for deciding on a deckplate motor.

the deckplate rule is BS. mopar and gm are at least a 2.2-2.4. maybe more i dont know. but its bullshit. we build these motors so our displacement could be of an equal or slightly less than gm or mopar and we get the shaft.

nhra gets a for that one

Thanks too all who have read and responded ... I think that we all need to take a stand on what rules are bs and eliminate them in some way ...
I you think about it what racers are making the rules , Most people in power have never street raced or put a motor in at 2:00 am.. They have never worked all night to make it to a race, then to only get shot down but the tech guys , or some new rule that has just been put it to play ....Most people in power are just business men!!! they only care about numbers....

Attention NHRA/NOPI/IDRC/BATTLE !!!!! WE THE RACERS THINK THAT MOST OF YOU RULES ARE BULL!!!!SAFTY IS FINE ...HORSEPOWER RESTRICTION IS CRAZEE..TUBE CHASSIS /BACK HALF/ UNI BODY SHOULD BE THE CHOICE OF THE RACER...

finally ... havent we seen a unibody single over head cam car run good numbers just like the full tube dohc cars ,,, it should be the racers choice

thanks oldskol pro racer
