I just realized something!
Well, earlier today we were working on my car doing a valve adjust, and one of my buddies decided to scrape away the dirt and grease on the engine. Well we noticed that the engine stamp didn't say d16a6 like I thought it did, it just said ZC. Just wondering what exactly this engine came out of, the lady I bought it from was told that they put in a d16 when she had the engine changed. Just wondering, it still pulls good and everything I just want to know exactly what it came out of.
There's suppose to be a SOHC zc type engine running around in some of the crx's, no real confirmation, no way to tell from the outside.
SOHC 1.6 Non VTEC. This one is a little more elusive but it’s out there. It looks nearly identical to the si D16A6 but is rumored to have a more aggressive cam and the same domed pistons that are in the black valve cover model that raises the compression ratio over the flat top pistons on the D16A6. It’s supposed to make around 120 hp. I would exercise caution on this one…short of taking the head off and looking at the pistons, there’s no way to tell that it isn’t just a D16A6.

I have had both the sohc zc and sohc zc vtec(which is whats in my car now). The only difference is the transmission which has USDM gearing but uses equal length axles
The sohc zc non vtec motor is no different then the d16a6
we got tons of sohc zc's here in toronto

so you pretty much just have a d16a6, nothing to worry about.

That is what I assumed, because everything I have purchased for this engine has been for a D16A6. Figured I would check to make sure. Oh well
Guess it's time for the B18 now

i have one in my wagon.
the head is supposed to flow 30% better than the a6 and it has a wilder cam than the a6.
dunno the specs on hp or torque. but it definatly has more torque than the a6...no more downshifting going up hills in my heavy *** wagon.
oh, i also remember reading somewhere that it has higher compression than the a6...

head is the same open it up and see, manifold is the same too. MAYBE (MAYBE) the cam is different but I didn't measure it. If it was more powerful maybe it was more powerful because your old motor was tired?
Thats like people who say that they put on a teg master cylinder and all of a sudden their braking is 100 times better...well did they compare that new teg master cylinder to a new civic MC compared to their old leaking MC.
