Default short shifter shaft ...HOTT!!

I was wondering if any one else had the same problem. When i drive my car for a while the shifter shaft gets hot and doesnt shift as smoothly. It obvious that its the heat from the exhaust , .. but is everyones like this?

nah man its not hitting the linkage at all.. there is one thing thou.. I put on a 18" resonator witch is kida fat but it points down where the shifter is.. oh yea is a dc short shfter

when i take my car out the garage it shifts really nice and quick, when it gets hot its hard to find gear and shofts much slower. i put wheel bearing grease @ the ball and didnt help much

its because the shifter itself gets "heat-soaked" from being near the cat...if u removed the heat sheilds then you will more then likely experience a hot shifter.
