Default Just got back form the State Ref. Need some help!

I'm trying to get a BAR sticker for my car. I pass the Visual and the Functional tests, but I failed the Emissions test as a Gross Polluter. Do any know how I can bring down my HC's.

My set up is:
99 jdm itr motor
comptech intake
jdm 4-1
carsound cat (new)
greddy evo exhaust
ecu usdm

my HC's at idle is at 412. acceptable is 100. This is the only thing I need to bring into specs. THE ONLY THING THAT HOLDING ME BACK FROM MY STICKER!

well, your best bet is to run stock intake, stock usdm header (jdm header aint gonna fly), stock exhaust. That's the obvious though.

Put a stock USDM header on the car with the stock USDM car...friend had the same problem, passed with flying colors after I lent him my OE cat.

check the o2 sensors as well - make sure they are both installed in the stock location...

I just need to reduce the amount of HC's at idle. Would putting the stock i/h/e reduce it at idle. I pass the 2500 RPM, no problem.

Also, one thing you can do is make sure that the car is completely warmed up before bringing it to the ref - the hotter the better - this ensures more complete catylytic conversion...

The stock cat will have much more of an effect on emissions than anything else. If possible, I would put it back.

Coming down from 412ppm is asking quite a bit. I'm only looking to go from 67ppm to 45ppm and that's been a chore. I'm not sure even a new OEM catalytic converter is up to that task.

Are you burning oil? Oil will spike HC readings, too.

More advice needed, please! Does anyone know any tips or tricks to reduce hydro carbons? Im planning to install new cap, rotor, plugs, and do an oil change before my next visit. which is on Tuesday. Motor is in great shape. not burning oil and no smoke.

That won't help (and the guarantee is void) if your cat is bad.
