what would cause a tranny to pop out of fifth? and what are going prices for having a d series EX tranny fixed if its just something with fifth gear?

 

id guess that the 5th gear synchros or maybe the shift fork is worn down. if you were going to pay a shop and have them replace the worn parts, i think it would be cheaper and easier to just find a good used tranny somewhere and have them put it in.

 

check your tranny fluid!

i would def. go with finding a used tranny over repairing yours! i had my d series ex tranny rebuilt a few weeks ago (right b4 i crashed my del sol) and it cost $2000!!!

 

Syncros are shot

 

you should also check to be sure you have fluid in your clutch resevoir. its a common problem for clutch cylinders to leak fluid causing gears to grind... just a possible solution.

but that normally makes it harder to put in 1st gear and all gears in general.

 

Low tranny fluid causes 5th gear to pop out.

That's the cheapest troubleshooting you can do before you take your car to a shop for an ***-raping.

 

samething was happening to my friends tranny...check your tranny fluid. you might not have enough. he didn't...added some tranny fluid and the problem was solved.
