Can anyone give me ideas on what would be wrong with my car. I already checked all the fluid levels, changed oil and had compression check done. Everything turned out fine. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the i-vtec solenoid. Does anyone know where I can find it and the lines for it. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

 

By your username I'm assuming K20A in a 03 Civic Si?

You have to have codes if you cannot rev past 6.

 

Its a k20a2 in a 2001 civic coupe. Noe there is no check engine light. I already had them check for any codes. I did have a p1166. My a/f sensor(first plug on the cat) was not connected since there was no female plug to plug it into. I had to spilce into the a/f aensor and connect it to the ecu. That took of the check engine light, but I'm still having problems. I 100% sure I wired it properly. Could the wires I used be the problem? I used 18 guage copper wires from radio shack. Any else with some ideas?

I'm pretty sure the wiring is good. I had it sent to hasport to get it done. Is there any trouble shooting guides I can look into about this problem?

 

Well, if the motor is not operating properly, then there has to be a CEL, unless your MAP or TPS is not set properly.

Check the TPS to be set at .5v at idle, and 4.5v at WOT.

I know tps is throttle position sensor. use a multimeter to check, it has three wire's and is located on the throttle body.

obviously it sounds like its running too rich. does it stutter or hesistant when you get on it and when it revs??? is your bumper black? do you have a cat? can you smell gas/exhaust???? i had similar problems on my b18b, it ended up being a shitty ecu.... i hope its just a loose wire or something
