Lexan rear windows legal in H1- WCHC?
"No, it's not legal. If someone got protested, it should be upheld."
This is a load of B.S.
you cannot allow and expect ex W.C cars but then say they are illegal

I'm sure it's legal on the West Coast? If not I'm sure it will be next season? If you live in Nevada then you will probably be more involved with the WCHC? If so...
Welcome! We're a little more into real racing over here.
Were putting Lexan rear windows in our car to try and get down to the minimum weight! But as has been the case in the past... this is probably the worst place to discuss this stuff. go to http://www.nasaforums.com
Good luck!

My car had lexan windows when I bought it, it wasn't very hard to switch them to glass...

As last I looked, both the ECHC and National HC rulesets did not allow lexan.

So bending the rules to fit your want is more into racing? I thought racing was about following rules.

I don't understand why an obvious infraction should have to be protested. Seems like protests should only have to be made against infractions that are not easily detectable - illegal internal engine modifications for example.

Because that is how it works. It is up to the participants to police themselves. This is true of almost all club racing (the only exceptions are the big races like the ARRC and RunOffs, where the top 3-5 finishers are subject to a tear down). That is part of the problem - both coasts have the set the precedent of not protesting illegal bodywork in H1.
How would you protest an infraction that you can't detect?

That doesn't seem right. So if a guy decided to run Hoosiers he is "legal" until protested. I am not talking about a teardown, I'm talking about a guy who is obviously CHEATING - illegal bodywork or whatever.

The less than obvious things like non Honda parts where Honda parts are required, weight, illegal engine modifications.

So....
lexan windows are ILLEGAL in the WCHC?
Why am I asking? I have a 2200lb CRX w/ B16 that i'm ever so slowly building for H1. I'd like to drop some more weight.
I'd also like to benefit from running air ducts via the lexan windows to the cockpit (it's friggin hot).
I guess if all else fails, I can just run in the class and if anyone has an issue with my mods, they can protest...I don't expect to beat anyone for at LEAST one race

Yes..they are illegal.
I am in the same boat, building a car and making sure it is legal. But difficult when the rules are not highly regarded (WCHC) and seem to be up in the air. I guess I will have to be the bad guy come November.

Perhaps by being the "bad guy" you could make your car legal and protest all the illegal guys until they fix their cars, rather than follow the bad trend of not complying to the rules.

Hey, but the good thing about being the "bad guy" is that you'll know that you are the good guy.
What's my response any time someone asks me why I won't do this or that because no one will ever notice or possibly even care? I tell them that I'd never want to feel like I won because I cheated, and besides, if it's wrong it's wrong.

Illegal?
I know team hybrid crx #1 has plastic windows, and so does the Integra I crew for.
I don't think it's illegal or that it should be.
Go to an actual WCHC race (So Cal.) and you'll see what I mean.
