without the splash guards your engine bay will get pretty nasty. i took mine off (it was torn and the owner before me used string to reattach it) since its been off i've gotten a considerable amount of dirt/sand in the engine compartment. but i do live on a dirt road so that causes a lot of it. its a pain in the *** to clean.

-Take the rubber stripping off of the rain gaurd
-Use some washer to raise the back of your hood up a bit
-Get a vented hood
