You might be able to get a form and a notarized signature on it. That's what I did at California Speedway for drag racing (don't worry...that was the first and last time ).

Get a signed minor waiver by your parents.

Bring your Mommy or Daddy to the auto-x. I've delt with them a few times in my region.

Contact the event host directly and find out what their policy is.

Good luck and have fun!

They are an SCCA club, which means that they are running under SCCA's minor policy.
Currently the policy is that one parent must sign for a minor to spectate. Both parents must sign for a minor to participate or ride as a passenger. I don't know if the forms can be mailed or not.

I'm not exactly sure who is Chief of Safety or Registration up in Seattle, but If you sign up for the NW autox mailing list, and post your question there, the right person should be able to provide you the forms and info you need.
You can find the mailing list at http://www.wwscc.org.

Good luck up there.

I went to MANY SCCA autox events by myself when I was 16 and 17.... I dont remember having any sort of form filled out. I would just contact the safety steward for your region.

Just a side note: For the first few events it may be best to have your parents present just because "kids" dont get a lot of respect.... and for a good reason. Most of the kids who want to head out to the autox or road course are definitely not mature enough to handle it. But if you are persistent enough, and have willing parents it is possible to race. I participated in my first HPDE just 1 month after I turned 17, and had 4 under my belt before I was 18. It is possible.

SCCA changed the policy this year. I'm not sure why they are getting tighter, but it seems like they are.

i dont think its the movie..i think its the "sue for anything" code that everyone in the USA seems to be going by. Kid messes up..breaks something or hurts himself...parents sue.

I'm a kid myself (16) and hope to participate soon with some guidance from experienced friends of mine.

can you get the parental permission form in advance from the SCCA?

The best suggestion I can offer is that you contact your region directly. The form is a multicopy form and I think that someone within the region also needs to sign as a witness.

If you a minor, I'd recommend brining both parents to your first event. It may also help to answer questions that your parents may have.
