LOL!
Wait - are we laughing at them or drooling over them?
If we are drooling then I have to ask why. They won't add any ridgidity to the car - but if you want some added metal for your friends in the back seat to whack their heads on then they are great for that.
We laughed at/discussed this contraption a while back though the search function is not being friendly tonight.
The conclusion however was something to the effect of "Just because it is JDM doesn't mean it is a good idea". Don't waste your money.

Wait guys... those metal sticks form a "Z" shape back there, which makes the car almost as fast as if they made an "R" shape.

ok... first i dont know where u get the hitting of the heads cuz theres is no back seats.. and second, its not jdm.
with that said... of coarse it helps performance. any thing that stiffens the chassy will help. just cuz some people go overboard with too many bars, doesnt mean that theyre all useless. so stop talking like u know all, cuz obviously u dont
BTW... nice car trev.. i plan on getting some too

Hey, Trev. This is the Road Racing/Autocross forum. There are some serious competitors here who will spend lots of time and $$$ to gain 0.1 second a lap. If a setup like this was of any benefit to them, don't you think they'd be using it?
Not saying it's not a nice piece of fabrication, but it's not of much use to anyone here. The racers will have a full cage that will stiffen up the car quite a bit more than a set of strut bars. The autocrossers generally can't run more than one bar per end, and can't run diagonals.

My cousin is gay and drives a new STi on the street (I keep telling him to go racing instead but he admits that he's a poser). He doesn't have bars like that so they must be "not gay." His ex-boyfriend is a great cook, though...
Wait - what was the question again?
Oh, yeah. They are cool looking and must have cost a bundle but simply don't return enough performance to warrant not spending the money on tires instead. Particularly in a street car that is (or should) never be stressed anything like to its maximum, they won't make a measurable, repeatable difference in handling.

Super Street is not a a very good way to guage what is considered appropriate or not. They like cool pics that sell magazines.
So the added advantage of that is what again? I think I could bend all of those bars in one weekend on track.

The original design of that brace came from Japan.

First off it is spelled "chassis" and I wouldn't expect someone who can't spell the word to understand the dynamics of chassis stiffening. That piece will do a little more than a strut bar - which doesn't do much of anything. A cage will make the car 20 times stiffer than anything like that piece ever will.

Can you point me to some research data that backs up your claims? Anything? Just give me something more than "y0! mah boyee gotZ a set an he be fasta down through the canyonZ y0!" Any sort of test data relating to times in an autocross or chassis torsion measurements would be great.
Thanks!
Super Street is to racing and performance as the George Foreman Grill is to 5 star cullinary quisine.

What a superb analogy.

You guys are worse than the G2ICers drooling over this. They are definitely NOT racing bars, they have no place on a track.

For the same price you can probably get a Kirk or Autopower roll bar which will help a whole lot more, including with a roll over.
