** Check engine light came on - need help **
Hey guys, I have a 91 integra with an LS/Vtec. My check engine light came on like a week ago. I looked up the codes and it was code 22 and 23. They are suppose to be the Knock Sensor and Vtec system malfunction. Where the hell is the Knock Sensor at?? is it hard to fix or am i looking at headache here? thanks for the help guys!
take it to auto zone. tell them ur code, they will giv e u what u need.
or, take it to a mechanic and let them fix it.
keep the receipt, and if it goes back on, u have somewhere to go to.
if u did what i did, which was try to fix it myself by replacing the part that didnt work. ur gonna spend a lot of money.
cause when i replaced my purge control valve (code 92), that **** blew up again.
cost me like 180 for that p.o.s.
i have some electrical problem with my car.

Well you have a problem and you dont. With a lsvtec the ls block does not have a stud for the actual knock sensor to thread onto. No knock sensor reading.....the ecu throws a code. Not a big deal, does not effect performance. As for the vtec malfunction...have you checked the connection on your solenoid? Is the vtec pressure switch good? check these out then go from there...most likley a simple fix though
Yup, what redline said. The LS block doesnt come with a knock sensor..... If it matter that much to you, it may be possible to buy a knock sensor, and attach it to the plug, and ziptie it secure; Im not positive but that may keep it from throwing the code. As far as the VTEC, check your connections, and your oil level. Sometimes if your oil is too low the system wont activate, however that shouldnt throw a CEL. Does your VTEC engage?
