Why won't my axle come out?
Alright, this is getting stoopid..... I have unbolted just about everything in attampts to get this damn thing out..... ball joints, pitch forks, steering arms, brake lines...... and the damn thing still won't come off, its stuck in there somehow...... any ideas on how to get it off?? I think the problem is that I need to take off that big nut on the spindle, but I figured if I could just unbolt the ball joints and drop it down it would fall out......that didn't work........ ANY IDEAS???
EDIT:: How do you lock the axle to prevent it from spinning when removing that giant bolt on the spindle??

Is the car in gear?? you could have someone push the brakes...but you pulled the brake lines.
It is a serious bitch to get the axle out /wout taking off the axle nut. Also, get one of those ball joint seperator forks, put it in btwn the Axle/Tranny casing and pry away, you may want to put a towel in btwn the too, so you dont scratch or gouge anything.
Becareful not to mess up the axle seal when removing it....if you do, replace it while you have the axle out. Make sure you slide it out smoothly, have someone help you guide it out.

Leave the car on the ground to get that nut off. That simple. Once you get it loosened jack the car up, and go to town on the rest. You might need some hammering to get the axle out of the hub in the front too. As far as the part of the axle that's slid into the tranny....I think there's a snapring you have to undo. Won't come out otherwise.
put it back on the ground and get a big impact wrench, i had to use a 1200 ft lb impact wrench the first time i removed mine, those bastards can be on there pretty damn tight.

You aren't going to like this answer, but the easiest thing to do is:
-put everything back together
-put the donut on
-put the car on the ground
-put the car in gear
-have someone hold the brakes on
-un-notch the spindle nut(The nut on the end of the axle)
-Use a breaker bar and the correct sized socket to take teh nut off
-If that doesn't work add a 2'-3' piece of pipe on the end of the breaker bar as a lever
-If that doesn't work(although it should) get an impact gun.
