okay prelude boi,,,,,first of all your nick say "prelude" lead me to think dat u should be in the lude forum,,,,,,,sorry if im being too mean......
anyway 2nd of all, you dun know jack about honda either and u giving dis man info that not even related to his problem? read the complaint......his wife car die out.....that mean while driving.....or sumthing like that......
anyway,,,,,,i work on my 92 accord w/ no start problem
<work for honda
well, does the car crank over but no start?
from your complaint.
i will more most likely to think the main fuel pump relay are most likely the cause to your problem.....
have ur wife replace the fuel pump relay ever since she own the car? if not.....replace it .....(those cheap relay will die out on her sooner or later....

LS1,
First and foremost, pay no attention to anyone who can't write a coherent sentence...for obvious reasons.
Second, don't go replacing things ***** nilly as some have suggested until you're pretty certain of the problem. Just a way to fatten somebody else's wallet.
Lastly, I can't tell you what's wrong, but just a thought: something very similar happened to my Accord a number of years ago. It turned out to be the ignitor in the distributor. A realitvely easy thing to replace, but if you don't know about it, you're SOL. I don't even know if your Accord still has an ignitor/distributor since my Accord is a '90 and could be quite a bit different.
I suggest you wait until you get a consensus of opinions on this board (of members you think know something about what they're saying...), or take it to a shop that knows what they're doing. The latter being more expensive, but maybe taking less time.
Good Luck,
Tom

I agree with TomSlick, the dying just out of nowhere definitely sounds like a distributor type problem. However, be certain.
Check for spark. If you don't know how to do it on an Accord, I think an easy way to do it is just pull a plug, connect it to it's boot, and hold the threads to a ground (there's usually a few bolts by the passenger shock tower which are good for this). Try to start it. If it cranks but doesn't spark, you're looking at an ignition problem. And that could certainly be the distributor/igniter.
If it does spark, start looking at fuel delivery. Try to start it, pull the plugs and check for fuel. If there's no fuel smell, well look at the main relay, the grounds, etc.
If you have both, then try to crank the engine with the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor turns. If it doesn't, then the timing belt is broken.
Anyways, you get the point. Start troubleshooting, and narrow down the problem.

Thanks. Here's a little more info....
Timing belt is GOOD. Is the "ignitor" the coil? And where's the "main relay"?
All fuses under the hood are good. Also, remember, it quit, then ran, and quit again. In other words, it broke, fixed itself, then broke again. So it can't really be a fuse. A relay could fail in this fashion though. My fuel pump relay on my RX7 did recently.
So, where's the main relay?
Also, anybody know how much a junkyard ECU for her car may cost?

Here's a page on the main relay. http://autorepair.about.com/li...1.htm
DON'T replace the main relay until you try to start it for a bit and then pull a plug to check for fuel. Otherwise it's wasted money.
It sounds like you still haven't checked for spark, I would do that as well. Check on Honda Automotive parts for locations of parts if you're not sure.
Ignition coil etc http://www.hondaautomotivepart...+PLUG
Distributor and igniter etc
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...EC%29
Just FYI, my family's Civic suddenly quit, refused to start for a while, then started again frequently until one day it would never start. It was the igniter, but the distributor itself went south soon after. If you saw a LOT of red dust under the dist. cap, it's a sign the distributor may die sometime soon. BUT CHECK FOR SPARK FIRST!

Good advise from StimpyBoy. I would just add one thing about the main relay (by coincidence I'm in the process of doing this myself): when I went to order one for my '90 accord, they told me that there are two "flavors" of this relay (EFI Main Relay), and you have to have the OM number off the relay for them to get you the right one. Of course, that means you have to pull it first, then wait while they get it for you. That's for my '90--don't know if it applies to the '92.
If you end up going this route and can't wait until the order comes in (assuming they don't have one in stock), you can repair the old one using the process described in one of the links StimpyBoy quoted.

Hey, The Wife here.
Mark found/fixed the problem. It turned out to be the ignitor, which we discovered only after giving it a tune-up and buying other assorted needed-to-be-replaced-anyway parts. So all is happily running now.
Thanks for all your help. This has been a real learning experiece for both of us!
Also, it would be cool if you guys could take a peek at Mark's website about our RX-7 and let him know what you think of it. He's gotten rotary guys' feedback, and would like some fellow piston drivers' opinions. http://www.thewrongmotor.com
Thanks again!

What's the story behind these two? :D http://www.thewrongmotor.com/g...G.htm
I've watched quite a few RX-7s run at a local auto-x, and they're naturally quite impressive. How's the engine been treating you two? The guys at the auto-x talked to me briefly on the dangers of carbon lock and apex seal problems :D

Ah, those are future "decorative clocks". The left one came from my Turbo II about 10 years ago. It was the first engine, and blew an apex seal. THe right one is from a car I just bought with an internal oil seal gone bad. I also have an '88 GXL in storage that has the famous "carbon lock".
Now that my car has a '00 LS1 and 6-speed, I don't worry about apex seals and carbon lock to much!
Here's a pic of the LS1 RX7 on the way to purchase a new stock TII hood...

holy cow... an ls1 in an rx7!
when i first saw your username, I figured that you were just an F body gearhead lost on the hondas.
Instead, I find you're true hybrid-er in the h-t forums... nice job on the FC. What a challenge. I would have just shoved an old SBC in between those frame rails.... the ls1 with VATS, sensors, serpentine belt, AC, and all sorts of things to go wrong on that engine... I'm astonished you got it all figured out!

I've had that car since '90, and have had 3 rotard motors in there. The last one was just over 300hp. They only last about 40k miles though.
This LS1 install makes the RX7 look like they designed it for a V8. Fits great, even under the stock hood! It's right around 380hp, 3000 lbs (me & 1/2 tanks os gas included), has 4.10 gears, and is 70 lbs lighter in the front end!
Darn thing is a blast, easy to drive, and gets 28-30 mpg on the road!
The only reason I never have had a Honda before is that I'm 6'7" with bad knees from 30+ years of Hockey.
