Default rebuilding my bottom end, someone please help me out

Well, I'm working on building up a b18a head i got. Its gonna have crower valvetrain, cams, port and polisha and some other goodies..

The engine in my car is a b18a with 140k miles on it. I planned on leaving the bottom end pretty much stock, so that i can juice it later with maybe a 55-75 shot..

My question is, since the bottom is pretty old, I wanted to rebuild it with new bearings/ and piston rings. If i do this, will i have to get it blue printed and balanced? I'm on a tight budget.. Someone give me some input.. Should i just get a b18b long block, and use its block?

No, you dont have to get it blueprinted and balanced. IMO you should have your crank balanced while it's out of the motor.

At most, you'll have to rehone the block to seat the new piston rings correctly.

my opinions...ditch the ls head...buy a used gsr head and run an ls/vtec setup...when rebuilding the block get some ctr pistons and youll be more than happy w/ the power...running bigger cams on a head that can breath isnt going ot make much power in a ls....get vtec!!! youll love it!

y dump all that money on the LS. i put 4500 on my LS and it's no where near slow. very happy with my results. i don't like LS/Vtec's had one, it was fun. but a pain in the a** to maintain.
