Rear Strut Tower Ideas?
I'm putting in rear tower braces, but I kinda want to keep my interior panels in the trunk. Anybody have any good ideas for putting in strut tower braces Without removing those plastic panels? Maybe cut holes in them? Anybody parting those out so I can cut holes in yours and keep mine clean?
yup cut holes in it, partin out i doubt it, post a WTB in the classifieds, or buy new ones and hack you old ones up . buy at slhondaparts.com or hondaautomotiveparts.com. Custom
and god luck

Just cut holes in the friggin trunk lining its not like you have a Bimmer. Oh and the rear tower bar is worthless, becuase the Prelude already has a couple of chassis stiffening features in that area.
maybe not a bimmer or beamer or whatever but they still cost 100$ to replace if i decide i want them back in later looking new as they are now. i'm looking for good advice please. so more support is worthless... because it already has some... too late for that, and besides the point anyhow now that i have it in my hand.

David: I'll be there soon. The rear seats are out, and all the paneling in the rear is gone; I"ve still got the decklid, though. He, you've got enough torsinal bracing, why not remove that bolt in panel that spans the base of the ridge b/w the rear compartment and trunk; the black thing, bolted in???
I have not removed that bolt on brace because
1. It is only 5 pounds
2. My ATTS yaw sensor in mounted on it
3. Any weight behind me is considered good weight.
4. I am already at the minimum weight for SCCA Improved Touring S.
5. Not allowed to remove it in SCCA Improved Touring.

go to your local book store and pick-up/order the book How to Make Your Car Handle It's by Fred Puhn. I'm not even going to flame you on how wrong you are... just go get the book read it then apoligize to everyone.

jesus, i wanted a little bracing, you guys are building tanks. i'm gonna work it with the lining still in. there's nothing wrong with the stripped down bare metal look at all, but i just don't have the car to back it up. so i'll hide all my puny stuff and keep it clean for now. i think i can cut a small hole and line it w/ split rubber hose and only run the horizontal bar through it. thanks all (even rab).

That's actually pretty open ended there. I'm going to assume that the book discusses that by adding a rear tower bar it'll improve the handling of a FWD car. I believe that is debatable. As many people know to get a FWD car to turn its benefical to stiffen up the rear spring and sway bar. And you can argue that adding rear tower bar would increase the rigidity of the rear.(In and Integra as is has no rear deck) HOWEVER what I said was that the Prelude BB6 chassis already has some horizontal chassis stiffen feature in that area. There are two, for one the rear deck and if you remove the rear seat you notice a piece of metal connecting the the opening ends of the trunk. If you look at the DR car he has removed this piece, its bolt in place via 6-8 bolt.
So I have no clue as to what the book states but I'm sure it say something along the line of stiffen up the rear end of a FWD car to make it turn better.
Actually if you look at DR car I think he has it bolt in, can't really tell, not enough color contrasting.

I've got three braces in the back of mine. A DC (has lots of room for improvment) top and bottom and 1.5" steel conduit mounted to the a arm bolts. Eventually I'm going to replace the two in the trunk with a one piece I'm gonna weld up at work.
For the record, every bar I've added back there I've knowticed that the car becomes more balanced.

I've thought about fabricating a rear strut bar to match my Neuspeed front strut bar. any thoughts or suggestions?
I was very impressed at how stiff and tight the neuspeed bar is, though honestly I felt no difference in the handling of the car. (I am not very skilled as of yet.)
