Awright JDM Folks. Please Help Me Find This Final Drive
90 to 93 Integra ZXI.
The only L3 tranny that came loaded with a 4.4 final drive.
I need a 4.4 final drive.
Any ideas? Anybody know anything about this car (was it rare?).
Thanks in advance.

You sure the 2nd gen ZC trannys will work? If so, you might be able to find one. When I sent you that e-mail, I was thinking you needed parts out of a G1 ZC tranny.
You might still be able to find DA parts in Japan, but AV parts will be hard. There are very few 10+ year old cars in Japan. I am sure there are some, you just have to know who to ask I guess.

Any L3 tranny will work. There were a shitload of L3 tranny applications from 88 to 95. Most, if not all, were mated to D series power.
I know the ZXI was one, but there may be others.
Maybe the XSi (?).

XSi was the G2 with the B16A. I don't think any integra in Japan had a D-Series. All the G1 and G2s are ZC.
From my Integra bible:
G1s with 4.428: ZS and LS. Both with carbed ZC engine.
G2s with 4.437: ZXi, RXi, TXi. All with PGM-FI ZC engine.

I'm pretty sure that the 4 door ZX and RX cars came with SOHC D series 1600 motors and L3 trannys. The ZXi definately carried a 4.4 FD.

You might wanna get ahold of Thomas Strom at Auto Adventure. They get ALOT of JDM stuff in containers on a regular basis. He seems to know just about every hybrid fitment as well.

The ZC is a D-series. The USDM D16A1 in the G1 tegs is essentially the same engine as the JDM ZC.
Hmmm, i remember Richard Floyd inquiring about an OEM final drive option for his car a while ago... This would be the ticket for him too if anyone can actually source these parts...

sorry this doesn't really help your search.
i too would be interested in this info.

If you've got a USDM 5 speed car a 4.4 isn't going to help you very much. You really need at least a 4.7 (for racing).
Mine is a 4 speed. The 4.44 is about as high as I could go or I'd run out of gear on longer straights.
Thanks for the help guys. None of the above leads has turned up anything so far, but all info is appreciated.

maybe IM b18c1_powered_si. He seems to always have a decent amount of jdm stuff.
It will probably be tough but just call all the major engine imports. even the nissan guys might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks George, but its got to come from an L3 tranny, which were mated to the D series motors.
There are lots of Integra B series 4.4s out there, but unfortunately they wont work.

The link above to the DA specs page is good. All the specs are right- I have a JDM dealer brochure here too. The thing I don't understand is that it looks like two different FDs were available, a 4.250 and a 3.937. Anyone explain why they had two FD options in otherwise identical trannies? Odd.
Anyway, no 4.4 is found in a ZC DA. Good luck with your search!

Not all that hip to the jdm "lingo" but my understanding is that they use the term "ZC" to designate the hot motor, regardless of size or cams. The Japaneese being the type to keep the hot motor for their own domestic market, ZC motors are usually JDM, unless they come in another car.
