Greddy Evo fix-it ticket
i don't wanna be a punk , but i need advice on wut i can REALLY do to avoid this fix-it-ticket.
i know my exhaust is legal and am sick and tired of getting cited for something, even when the cops know it's legal. They just don't want me infringing on their "authority" and saying "you can't give me this ticket sir, my exhaust is 50-state legal".
please help

did you buy the exhaust new? i would think that it would come with papers to say that it is under the sound level limit. If not try contacting Greddy to see if they can mail/fax you something.
Go back to the vendor from where you purchased the exhaust and ask them for the certificate that states that the evo is 50-state legal. If you bought the exhaust from a private party, just email greddy directly and they'll send you out the certificate. The last option would be to take it to court and get the ticked signed off since the cop probably didn't have the equiptment to measure the decibal level of your exhaust at the time when he/she gave you the ticket.

The cops don't need to use equipment to test the decibal level, it's the new law. They'll probably say it's loud based on his opinion and every car produce a different level of sound.

This shows what is legal with CHP. Also papers and everything should work, is there a silencer for that exhaust? I have never seen one personally.

Taken from the CHP site:
Exhaust systems which meet smog requirements but are still too loud. Exhaust equipment that states it is, "Legal in all 50 states," refers to smog, not noise.
Note: New law (27150.2 VC) does not require law enforcement to use sound level meters to test for excessive noise. Citation is based on officer's judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at smog referee stations or may be directed by the court to have testing done. Vehicles in violation must be brought into compliance. A fine may also be imposed.

I purchased my evo used but I managed to get a "sound certificate" as they call it now from island motorsports.
Now my setup is a bit louder because of the jdm header and smsp cat. Getting a little more paranoid on the streets..
yo thanks for that chp link.. ive been driving around with no front plate for 2.5 years now (still doing good ::knocks on wood:

greddy will not send you anything. I've tried. fax them a reciept and i believe that is the only way that greddy will send you anything. get a magnaflow muffler and paint it black...so nobody can tell the differnce...same theory in muffler design. straight through and packed with fiberglass and sound suppressing material......noticing that your from cali.....it's the shiny muffler they are after most of time.....or unless you have a test pipe .....then your decibel should be a concern
