Default Tech question.......My transmission is acting up...please help

Today, my transmission started acting up.

As far as what I can explain in words. It is hard to get the car to go into any of the gears. When it does go into gear, Off of the start in 1st the car kinda feels like it doesn't want to stay in gear, and the car is kinda jumpy or stuttery, but feels like clutch is stuttering and not the engine. Also after I get the car moving, shifting through the gears is worse than the rubbery gearboxes equiped on all VW's.

Up shifting feels as follows. In first at any RPM, when shifting I push in the clutch and move the shifter towards second where it would usually shift in perfectly, the thing has crazy resistance, and then five second later it kinda just goes into gear as if the friggin car doesn't want to or something. All other upshifts are about exactly like this. When downshifting, the car is even more difficult. It also does not wish to go into gears and I find myself trying a few times before the car will accept a downshift.

This is really wierd, as this morning, my car was driving beautifully as always. Gearshifts were the dream that they always have been in the ITR. My tranny has never had a grinding/syncro problem and 6,000 miles ago I had the Clutch master cylinder replaced and my tranny fluid flushed .

Could this be my clutch going bad?? It hasn't been slipping and it still made the dashboard sound like it was going to fall off when shifting at high rpms last night The only thing I could think of recently that has been even slightly awkward is that right after shifting I'd here a sound like two marble hitting together from time to time??

Please, someone give me some expert advice.

I usually take it pretty easy. Not much F&F for me, from time to time you gotta get up to 8400 .

51,000 miles on the R

most likely clutch/PP

i had an incident once when the shifter wouldn't go into gear then it would, and then after few more miles, the damn thing just cut out on me, i pulled over and i jammed it into gear, then i couldn't get it out.. the clutch was gone, had to get it towed.

im not saying this is what is wrong with your car, but if you have another car to drive around until you get this checked out, you might wanna do that.

The common broken retainer spring on clutch disk would lead to these problems. The fix is to replace the clutch. Before you open it up make sure the slave cylinder is working.

Thanks, hopefully this is what it is. I was gonna do clutch/fly soon anyway. After I get a second opinion from someone who will actually drive it tomorrow, I'll most likely order ACT HD/SS and Fidanza flywheel................Or if anyone has other advice, I'd love all the advice I could get.

You best get a clutch and fw before MAM y0!. OEM clutch works wonders.

I checked all the lines and the level of the clutch master cylinder reservoir. It is well above the min line. Also no leaks are detected anywhere as far as I can see on the slave cylinder or the clutch master cylinder.

Drove the car again 5 minutes ago. Clutch chatters like crazy when engaging into gears sometimes. You have to let off of it super slow If you let off the clutch fast(which is more like regular shifting at 3000 rpms) it makes a clunk noise as if you have a Xtreme pressure plate and goes into gear harsh. Also If I get on it a little and try to shift at 4000 RPM's the car isn't having it. It just resists going into any gears. Must shift at low RPMs

Don't worry, I will have everything I need by then. I just won't have money for anything else . Also my brakes may not be beefed up as much as I wanted them to be since I'll have chump change leftover for brakes.
Hard Core yO!

Okay....... I ordered a Fidanza Flywheel ---> $240 shipped was the best price I could find.

Now I'm trying to find a great price on ACT HD/SS or XT/SS
