Default Alternator ground?????? ...........charging problems...

I have a 89 Crx with a JDM b18c type R in it and last week the battery light came on in my dash. The light only was on until 5000rpms but anything past that it went out. My headlights started dimming and then the next morning i went to start her up and the battery was dead. So I took out the alternator and had it tested and its putting out 14.4v. So I put it back on and went out and bought a new battery. The problem didnt go away. So my friend told me to check the alternator ground but what i thought the ground was turns out to be the wire that feeds the power back to the battery so where is the ground???? any other suggestions to help me out are very welcome!!!!! Thanks

I thought when you get an alternator tested, you measure voltage AND amperage. You need to know both.

But anyway, maybe the voltage regulator is going bad but happened to work OK when it was tested? Maybe the brushes are worn out so they don't make good contact until you spin it fast enough to shake it around??

Is the alternator grounded thru it's bracket? You might be able to improve it by bolting a wire to the alternator case & to some good ground. Also check ALL your big battery wires for loose or dirty connections at both ends.

Check your main ground too. Mine on the transmission was loose and causing the same problem.
