Default WTF is VSS? (little blue plug behind your cluster)

As the title suggests, What does it do and why do I have five wires on my '90 cluster and 3 on my '89? I'm in the process of repinning the '90 to fit the '89 and Everything is figured out except the VSS. Please help me!

does anyone know what to do with the plug?

On the '89 there are three wires: yellow/black, black, and yellow

on the '90 there are five wires: red/black, red, yellow/black, yellow, and green/yellow

Which ones connect to what and what are the functions?
