Pulling Axle or CV joint from hub
Well I figured out how, and it didn't show up in a search, so this is to help anybody who has the same problem.
If the axle is seized in the hub, just remove the nut completely, and let the trans side of the axle hang down (support it with something, but make sure it won't hit anything when it pops out). Now hit the stub end real hard right on the end with a 20 lb sledge hammer this is very important, do not substitute a smaller hammer. Be carfull to not hit the lug studs. You will only need to hit it once, maybe twice if it is rusted real good, so it will not flare the end. It works like a charm
Unfortunatly I did not figure this out first and I think I ruined my wheel bearing by hitting it repeatedly with a 10 lb sledge.

yep. That is a 2-jaw gear puller. He has that bar propped so the hub doesnt spin. Sears sells a Craftsman 8-ton puller for about 35$... worth it imo. The tool is useful to get the axle end out of the hub AND to get the other end of the axle back into the tranny.
