suggwstions on SOHC VTEC install in a dx?
Very seriously thinking about a d16z6 VTEC swap, but curiouse about the best way to do it. Should I:
A.) change my car over to multi point injection and use an RPM switch to operate the VTEC solenoid? If so which ECU would be best,.....CRX SI,....Integra,.....ZC?
B.)Same as A.),...but use an apexi VAFC, or Fields VTEC controller....if possible, to switch on VTEC?
C.) Rewire, and use a 92-95 Civic SI/EX ECU( probably the best idea )?
So if anybody has experienc with this, and can save me some time and money, I would appreciate any answers!
Oh yeah, a small description of why one option would be better than another would be useful as well.

Alright, this sux! Hell, if I had asked about a friggin b16, I would have at least gotten replies from people who didn't even have a clue what they were talking about!
Come on, somebody has probably played with one of these set ups? Throw me a friggin bone will ya?
Any body with a mini-me set up? Hell, you guys had to figure out how to do VTEC, any hints would be greatly appreciated!

if you're going to do the swap, do it right and wire it for the p28 ECU. it just isn't worth it otherwise and you will be very disappointed (well, maybe you wont since you've got a dx
) but anyway, using the 88-91 ecu and rpm switch is a crappy way to go and you wont make the most of the swap; using this same setup w/ a fuel controller is gonna be more expensive than using the p28.
the wiring is kinda scary, I'm doing the swap this fall and I've got someone who's gonna make me a harness. he'll also make a harness for the dx. only problem is they're not gonna be ready til the fall. if you want, I can give you his email.
there's someone on http://www.thepartstrader.com is selling harnesses for this swap as well, but I cant speak for his credibility.
Place Racing makes harnesses but they're way overpriced as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks, I'll get with you a little closer to the actual install about the harness. I am going to do this soon, though, and I appreciate the help.
I've done the swap put a 93si motor in an 89dx. I use a rpm switch to control the vtec works pretty good. I would recommend useing 88-91 si ecu coupled with same year dist. I would also recommend useing same year intake manifold. The swap is actually quite simple be sure to pick up a wiring harness. Placeracing carries what ever you need. Anything I can do to help let me know.
I agree- I would switch your dx to port injection with si manifold, ecu, and distributor and get some kind of rpm switch for the vtec- If you run your 1.5 with Si injection you will notice a big improvement.
