I have an oppurtunity to get a P06 ecu for basically free, so i was wondering if this ecu would work better than my obd-2 LS ecu. I plan on running hondata, i've always just been weary of it, because I would have to do obd-2 to 1 conversion and find an ecu blah blah. So I wait and save up to buy an obd-1 ls ecu?? or just use the P06?

 

yup, the p06 was originally a SOHC non-vtec ecu. If you chip it you can run a P30 rom on it, and it will handle your 1.8 DOHC non-vtec with no problems.

so, I couldn't just do the conversion harness and plug it in? or are you talking about chipping it for hondata?

 

i run a p06 ecu in my car with hondata on the h23

 

why not just get an ls ecu they are like a dime a dozen.

 

i don't want to go out and buy one-- that is why i was going to use the p06

 

the 1.6 litre fuel curves will NOT be optimal for your 1.8 engine.

i used a po6 ecu on my ls once and it drove kinda funny... it then died on my about 10 mins later while i was driving.. luckily, i was on a dead road close to my house so i pulled over and had to get it towed back to my house... turned out, somehow one of the capacitors in the ECU got fried and thus it would not run the engine... to this day, i'm still stumped on why and how the capacitor went...

 

so i guess the debate/question is--- Will this ecu run or work well on my car using hondata?

 

The P06 will be fine.

 

It'll be fine running hondata, I thought you meant stock.
