where can I get sheilded wire for the knock sensor? Or is there somebody that can just make the setu
I need to obtain wire for the knock sensor (sheilded wire) Or if somone can just wire me up something I will pay for that.
Last time I grabbed some electrical stuff at Autozone & Pepboys, they both carried shielded wire. Somebody said that Radio Shack didn't carry it but I haven't check there, but the auto parts store had it.
Im currently wiring and gettin my swap into my 92eg, is a sheilded wire neccessary for the knock sensor? What happens if regular non-sheilded wire is used? I believe the distributor wires are sheilded as well? thanks

This is true, Radio Shack does carry different type of shielded wire but it's not what's needed for automotive use. I gather all of mine from salvage yards and I realize that not everyone has that option. The "electrical stuff" that you got from parts stores, was it simliar to OEM shielded wire?

Yes it is important to use shielded wire for the knock sensor, O2 and various other ones. The inner braided wire that looms around a standard wire is grounded at one end. This gives a neutral charge around the positive charge inside and "shields" out electrical interference from other electrical parts, sensors, etc.

ya i'm looking at my plug and it has that extra inner braided wire (i think its the right plug - a green one). I took the old jdm harness apart here and this extra ground wire or whatever goes to like 3 other wires. what are you guys doing about this extra wire?
