Get in line

Looking for some too!

Panasports *appear* to be the only decent option <$1000 these days, unfortunately. Diamond can appartently make some heavy steel suckers for less.

Anyone know of any other options?

IT depends on the Offset you want and can use on your specific car. Take a look at the Motegi line-we use their MR12 with a +35 and it is really a tight fit on a 14x6 wheel. Going to a 14x7 would put you outside the fender at +35. They are also not as light as the Panasport. Check with you Honda dealer and then a salvage yard that specializes in imports-we have 3 in Pittsburgh.

On a related topic, members of the SCCA Improved Touring Ad hoc Committee (ITAC) seems open to the idea of pitching a plus-size wheel initiative for the IT classes. The primary reason put forth is exactly what we are seeing here - lack of availability of 13 and 14 inch wheel options.

Take a look at improvedtouring.com and write the Comp Board and ask them to consider this move.

We used to run the 14x7 TSW Stealths but they ceased importing them about four or five years ago. Although TSWs tend to be soft, the stealths took a pretty good beating although after a fair amount of use, yone needs to be on the lookout for radial cracking around the bolt plate and sokes. I never had this problem but heard of several who did. TSW may still have the Stealth available in South Africa. They were pretty cheap wheels as I recall, maybe $120 each retail.

The Borbet Type T I think was available in 14x7 through the Tires Rack a few years ago and may be available. They were made in 4x100 for VWs so te offset is not as deep as a Honda (don't recall the numbers) but are close. Check with http://www.tirerack.com to see of they are still around. Panasports are very sweet but a bit pricey for me.

The radial cracking was caused by a problem with molten metal.. Its since been overcome! Or so they guarantee...

And $120 a rim is a rip off!! I think that what they retail in SA for is $60 a rim.. So unless $60 of that is import costs its quite steep...

Gimme a month or two and ill do a hookup for you guys... Im moving home!

Group Deal anyone ? $75 a rim ??

i got some enkei 92's from here for $150 shipped

i think they are all 4x100 as the site was intended for the older z cars</TD></TR></TABLE>

Older Z cars were 4x4.5, someone getting a set of those for a Civic will be very disappointed (not to mention the offset will be between -4 to +8.

Went to the Comp Board with the suggestion of extending the spec line from production to IT and got turned down. Good point Kirk-will try again since it does make sense.

Looks like these guys may still be carrying them. Does anyone know the offset of the Steaths?

Anybody checked prices on widening 6" wheels to 7" ?? I would imagine it is too expensive, but I'm not familiar with pricing for this, so I thought I'd ask. 6" oem stuff is a dime a dozen.

There was a company in Washington State that would widen OEM steel wheels - not alloys, obviously - that a lot of the ministock guys used. If one were to go that route, new wide steels would be better and probably cheaper...

I know that there are some companies out there that can do aluminum. Just not sure if its worth it or not. Probably not. I think you need to sacrafice a wheel to do it also, so you need 8 to make 4.

I checked and you don't need eight to do four. They have "lips" already. It cost more to widen, than new wheels cost though ( 150$-200$ each).

There's a pretty decent listing of wheels on this site. Maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I'm happy with my 14x7 Borbet Type Ts.

15 lbs/wheel isn't THAT heavy, but it's not light either. For $250 for 4, they're pretty cheap though

Don't know if you're still in need of a set of wheels, but I have a set of 14 x 7 Panasport Ultralights for sale. They're meant for 88-91 CRXs because of the extra wide offset (28mm). If you have a Civic, they won't fit.

Last time I checked, the 14x7 wasn't available in the right offset. Other sizes are available with a "FWD" center which adds 1-2 lb per wheel. So even if they can do it, figure on 16-17 lbs. I think 5" or 5.5" backspace would be right for a civic/crx. The table only lists to 4.5".

Okay - so who still stocks 14x7 Borbets? It appears Tire Rack does not...

Wow, that is odd. About a year ago, they had the Borbet Type T in 14x7 4x100 for like $79 per wheel if memory serves but when I did a search just now, I can't find any 14" Type T's. I did find http://www.wheelspecs.com, which does seem to have a pretty good search feature (didn't search just looked at the params so it might have useless results).

I don't think the Type T's are made anymore.
