Default searched but still a little confused about obd conversion

I have searched about this (before any flames start) But i am still confused. I have a 97dx. Obviously obd2. I want to put a b18b in it, i also want to turbo it and use hondata. hondata is only available for obd1 ecu's. I want to understand my options. correct me where i'm wrong:

1. use a obd2 motor, an obd1 ecu and a obd2-1 conversion harness
if i do this, will i have to replace any other parts, i've read that the distributer needs to be replaced. What other parts need to be changed?

2.use an obd1 motor, and a obd1 ecu
any other mods need to be done with this option?

I live in NY and i can't find any laws about year of engine vs. year of car so i'm not too concernd about that.

Is what i've said correct?

no the distributor wont need to be replaced you just need to wire in the plug for it into your DX harness. The primary o2 sensor will need to be lengthened (easy if you get a swap with a wiring harness), and you will need to run a few other wires. vtec and whatnot. I dont know what the laws are for you in new york so your guess is as good asmine. you can check out the link in my sig. I have a b18c swap but the motors are somewhat similar so it might help you out a bit.

I would get an OBD2 motor, adapt your OBD2 harness to the motor, get an OBD2a->OBD1 conversion harness, and the OBD1 ECU will plug right up with no changes.

This way, you can take off the conversion harness and get your emissions done if you need, still obd2 and legal, and you can always plug in the OBD1 as needed.
