I thought the Skunk2 was designed after the ITR... so it was the same thing basically?

yeah, the skunk2 is a sweet manifold, but it is basically an ITR copy.......either one would be an excellent choice for even a stock b16.....if you dyno it i doubt you would even notice a difference in numbers.

They are practically the same. The differences are negliable. Just get whatever is cheapest.

the thing is that they make one for itr also with the same part #, i mean then shouldn't the skunk2 intake manifold be better? and the cost about the same price.

Just because its aftermarket doesn't mean its better.

to be honest, if you are not shifting above 8400rpm, the b16a2 manifold is best and its has been documented a few times. i do know that on the b16 only, the 2nd gen manifold will out perform an itr or Skunk2 from 2000-8400rpm in both the hp and tq department. if you port match the a2 manifold to accept big bore t/b's, and match it to the head, you'll love the power. if you are revving beyond 8400rpm and upwards of 9200+rpm, then i would say either the itr or Skunk2, hands down, as they flow very well up top. this only applies to the b16a. 1.8L and larger motors will benefit from the short runner manifold vs. the a2 from as early as 7500rpm. this is where the a2 manifold will run out of steam. remember one thing, just because everyone buys the itr stlye intake does not mean it is best. it is designed for high rpm, and people love to hear that, so they buy the ITR manifold, not knowing that every car is different, meaning, not every car will benefit from the short runner intake. all i can say is if you plan on staying below 8400, and do not plan on buying big cams, get the B16a2 manifold.

well, you are talking about the a2 manifold, does that apply to the 1st gen manifold as well? There was an article about this in the hci magazine a while back, but they were only talking about the later gen manifold. ill have to see if i can dig that one up.

I have a R manifold for sale.. And the skunk 2 manifold is the same as the R but they make it for models that cannot bolt on the R manifold like GSR's and stuff like that.. Its a copy of a factory honda product its junk.. just get the real one..

ITR is good for turbo users, of course.. short runners and a big plenum means GREAT boost power numbers.

I got a 64mm JG throttle body, and my ITR intake with all sensors for $175 locally, used of course. I picked up at least 13 hp at the wheels with that, ITR cams, and tuning when I was n/a.

If you plan on using a skunk2 with stock cams and springs you will lose horse power. I've seen dyno charts to back it up, it's really almost unbelivable but true.

actually thats not entirely true scott. peak hp will be higher but they lose power everywhere else. I say if you plan on upgrading your motor more extensively, then save the IM till last. I have high comp and type r cams in my lsvtec and use a 1st gen b16 IM. I can feel my midrange strong though I'll eventually change it to a ITR or skunk 2 though.

they ITR intake manifold will fit the GSR it just doesn't use the dual stage runners, but I'm pretty sure that green EG hatch that was in superstreet a couple years ago had it on a GSR head, I think the guys name is johnny, he and his brother were in a while later w/ his red JDM front end GSR and his brothers turbo'd EK, and I think the green EG got sold to the guy that owns benen, and I'm pretty sure they're all on HT

The itr will not fit a gsr the bolt studs do not line up properly and it has to be drilled to work and i think there is an issue with the fuel rail too... that is why sk2 makes the gsr one it is a straigh bolt on

I think you answered your own argument, you have to drill it, but I know I've seen it done, its not impossible its just not commonly attempted

I am a dealer for Skunk2 and JG Edelbrock parts. I can get the Skunk 2 Manifold or JG Edelbrock cheaper than any place you can find. Email me if you are interested. Thanks.

Looking at both side by side, the stock ITR appears to be the better quality unit. Also, it allows the use of a manifold bracket. This fact could be important for long-term reliability.
