STOCK BLOCK RPMS!
Just curious, but what's the highest you Prelude owners have taken you H22A on a BONE STOCK BLOCK (with or without a built head).
I've taken mine up to 8200RPM before using a P72 GSR ECU. Nothing happened luckily.

You say 8200-is that with the stock (known to be inaccurate) tach? Also is the car a 5th gen? If the answers are yes-you never were that high. Another thing ALL 5th gens have a fuel shutoff and it is supposed to be lower than that. I have been over the 7400 indicated redline and assure you that you can hear if not feel the difference.

and why would you want to do that?

yeah a bone stock motor would fuel cut at 7800....
There's really no point in revving it that high....most H22As peak at 6800-7000 rpms...even my built motor peaks at 7500 so what's the point of going past 8000?

depends on what IM you're using.... the VEMON and STR IIRC are designed for more the 7300-9000+ range.

sorry bro, but that has nothing to do with it. changing your IM will not change your fuel cut-off point.

revving that high would mean shifting into the meaty part of the powerband on a stock motor: 5200-5500 rpms. shifting at 7600 real rpm (8000 on the tach) from 1st to 2nd puts me right at 5500 (tach) when i hit 2nd, and keeps me from lowballing it through the sweeper/chicane combos.
I have a friend of mine with an aftermarket ecu on an auto prelude vtec and his rev counter would go pat 8,000 rpm and line up with the D4 marking on the drive selection indicator. I imagine it was around 10,000 rpm. Stock block.
