d16z in a 90 crx hf tranny ?
crx si trannies are hard as hell to find...can i use a zc tranny up against a d16z?
does anyone know of any places, like hmo. or any shops that can get si trannies?
i have a 95 complete d16z swap, and was going to put it in my 90 hf, but, finding
a tranny is a bitch...i'm about to just use the hf tranny, and i really don't want to
b/c it will suck real bad...any help would be great.
yes you can use a zc tranny on that motor ... check local junkyards for the si tranny inspect it first thats what i would do make sure you going to a repuitable dismantler
Ok.....i HAD an hf tranny on my D16 back in the day, and let me tell you, this is NOTTTTT the way to go......it will get you around and you will see 40 mpg out of that D16, but there will be no power......the hf gears are terribly tall......i did 80 mph in second gear before shifting at 6800 rpm....no ****! so although that was fun, when i got the si tranny in, the difference was night and day.....
thanks for the help
just one more question...what is the code stamped on a si tranny? i supposedly bought an si tranny, but it turned out to be a dx....the stamping on it said:
PLA3000......which i was told was an si....but it wasn't...if i find one i want to be sure.

Si trannies are going to say PL3-X000
where X= a 1 or 3 or 9
STD, DX and other trannies are going to say PL3-AX00
where A=can be 1 or 3 or 9, but the trickie part its the letter.... letter before number tells u it is not an Si
u can also look tru the hole on the side where the axles go in... and compare the tickness of the differential itself.... u can tell on this pic i too. left side its DX, far right its Si....
