My friend's GSR makes a loud grinding noise from 3000-4000 RPM. The noise continues through till she passes 4000. The engine is stock and it has and Exedy clutch. Does anyone know what it could be, thanks.

probably the heat shield. i have the same problem... but i'm getting a header so it won't matter then .

 

what about the heat shield is it?? is it hitting something or vibrating?

yeah, it's probably just vibrating and hitting the exhaust manifold. nothing is wrong with it (assuming that it is the heatshield).

some people also say it's the a-pipe (the pipe between the exhaust manifold and the cat). if that's the case, it's an internal error with an acura part, which i don't know how to fix other than replace the a-pipe.

 

What year gsr is it? If it is a 94 or 95 it could be the header.

 

I have a 99 gsr with the same problem, i took off the heat sheild around the cat thinking that was the prob, buy it still does it. My friend told me it that it was the A pipe and i needed to get a new header.
