Do I need to drain the transmission to replace axle seals?
My axle seal on the intermediate shaft side needs to be replaced because it was ripped on removal. Does anyone know if I need to drain the transmission before removing it?
You shouldn't have to. Just jack up the front. We were able to replace the passenger-side axle without having to drain the fluid or any dripping out.

the passanger side wont leak but the drivers side will leak...so if youre planning to replace both id keep something handy if it leaks.
