Synthetic oil wise for a new Integra?
Just curious....I just got done doing my 5th oil change on my 01' integra and have been using Castrol 'dino' motor oil.....Is it worth switching to synthetic?
Are there benefits if I do on a new engine? Should I keep using 'dino' oil??
I drive pretty hard at times but normal most of the time. 60 normal /30 hard i guess.....or even 60/20
Thanks.

It wouldn't hurt.
Rule is you dont want to switch to synthetics on a higher milage engine b/c the detergents in the oil will eat the seals.
If you have a newer motor, there is nothing to worry about.

i dont trust synth becuase alot fot he people that do run it end up burning more oil for some reason , i hear it east theu the seals more .
im still on reg oil and it obviously works for me .
i advise against it on a newer motor.

The eating through seals thing is a problem with synthetics that has been around in a LONG time.
Most synthetics now actually have a swelling agent to help the seals expand and prevent leaking.
The reason some people see more lost oil with synthetics is simply because the synthetics are much more fine and can work their way into cracks/leaks that the thicker dino oil couldn't.

If you want the advantages of synthetic oil (better flow characteristics when cold, greater resistance to breakdown when hot) and you don't mind paying more for it, then get full synthetic like Mobil 1. ($23.xx/case of 6 quarts at Sam's or Costco, $18.88/jug of 5 quarts at Wal-Mart) Otherwise, use conventional oil.
