Valve seats recut necessary on new head?

Default Valve seats recut necessary on new head?

I'm planning to buy a brand new itr bare head, i will be buying stock itr valves separately, do i need to get my seats recut?

More than likely, yes. But, you might be able to get away with simply lapping the valves in.

lap the valves in and send it down the road. you can buy the lapping compound at any parts store and I think you can buy the lapping "stick" there to. put a dab of the compound(fine grit)on the back of the valve and roll the stick back and forth in the palm of your hands kind of like starting a fire, do this for 10 sec or so pull the valve out clean the rest of the compound out with a rag and look for the lap line on the seat and on the back of the valve, look for the line to be consistant all the way around the seat and the back of the valve do it twice or more if you have to if this does not work then I would get the valves re-faced and try it again. it's real easy! In all reality though if this is all brand new stuff you shouldn't have a problem just sticking it toghther but I like to be safe then sorry.

yeah, i've lapped valves dozens of times...i might get the seats recut anyways though.
