Motor mount insert install
alright, i'm semi retarded here....
i have the passenger side torque mount unbolted from the front frame rail/unibody, and i can't lower the engine enough to remove the mount from the bracket. soooooo... i was just going to loosen the nuts on the upper mount, say 1/2 worth of threads or so, but i can't break those nuts. then i was going to loosen the 3 flanged bolts that hold the motor mount bracket to the block... no go there either... stuck as a ****. so, right now, i've got some liquid wrench soaking in... any other ideas??
i guess removing the bolts to the driver side torque mount may help a bit. *shrugs*
oh, and damn... that 3rd mount..... that looks like it'll be a pain to swap the inserts into... any tricks for doing so???
any thoughts appreciated..... i be todd did.

I am sofa king we todd did.....
You do have to un-hook the other mounts to allow the motor to drop down a bit. For both the pass and driver sides..
The pass side...IDEA...
Loosen the 3 bolts that fasten the mount arm to the tranny... remove two of them... let the mount swing down... remove mount from bracket... install inserts (correctly
)... re-install mount on bracket... bla bla bla..
Driver side... I had to loosen the 3 bolts on the upper mount... move the P.S. line out of the way... loosen and let the motor down a bit... permitting the mount to be removed (using a bit of force).
The rear one...
you already know my thoughts on that one

I tried to do them myself, and realized I was in dire need of an impact wrench. Took it to my shop, and they just unbolted the whole arm that the motor mount is connected to. Ahh, air tools. Failing that, make sure you're using a 1/2" drive, and get a pipe to put over the damn thing. Don't even think about this if you're using a 1/4" drive rachet.
edit: Put a floor jack underneath the block when you do this
You can probably get away without it, but I'd do it just in case. You won't have to drop the engine at all if you just unbolt the entire motor mount arm. I didn't bother with the third mount. Too much **** in the way.

The rear one is a bitch..

Wait till the trans is down for a clutch replacement before you attempt to remove it..

Just the two make a big difference. I ran with the pass and drivers side for a while. Didnt make a big difference after installing the back one. Just a little more vibration.

well, it kicked my *** today, but i would have had no troubles getting the back insert installed except for some more seized bolts holding the rear bracket onto the block. Liquid wrench is doing it's job as we speak... round two will be some night this week... time to kick it's ***.
driver and pass no problems... once you get some stubborn bolts out.
think i sweated off 15 lbs.... fuggin hot out dere.... time to get some eats...
zyg - relatively skinny????? ****, a big wind blows my *** across the fuggin street... 6'4" 170 if i'm lucky....

rear should be about a 1 hr job...
Motor and tranny stay in place...
I have seen and helped do it on 3 kaas.
2 inserts helped... but the rear made the most difference.
Good luck,
Willie

I just got the Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts as well. What kind of performance gains can you expect with these? Are there any disadvantage? I heard that Idle will be felt through the steering wheel and there will be more impact on the hardware of the car instead of the motor mounts???
I will ax B18CXr to field your question... he will know which bolts to remove and what size they are
