throwing code 6: engine coolant tempature sensor.

i just finished swaping in a d16z6 and i cut the two prong sensor and used the wires to plug into a clip that goes into the thermostat housing. why would i be getting code 6? should i change these two wires around?

did a search and found very little to nothing at all to help me.
