Default D Series Header Install.

Hey everybody,

Removing stock exhaust manifold and Installing a two piece header. Started today. Removed heat shield, loosened the nuts that hold the exhast mani to the head,, and removed clips for the 02s so I can remove the stock exhaust mani and then take them out after so I have more room to work with. It got dark so Ill have to finish up in the morning.

Are there many bolts or hangers holding the header up that i cant see from above? Also, any tips for removing those god awful bolts from the end of the manifold that connect to the b-pipe. The bolts with the springs? Can I hit em with an impact? What else do I really have left to do?

there is a little hanger piece with two bolts where the collector is. just spray the bolts with wd40 and let it sit a little bit. oh yah and the stock piece is HEAVY be careful you dont drop it on you if youre under the car

So after unbolting the header-to-head bolts and the rear b-pipe bolts and the heat shield bolts, there is just two other bolts left to remove? I need to remove the splash shield so I can see this stuff from underneath

there seems to be some kind of shield around the downpipe, do I need to reinstall this? (This is for a D16y7 engine, with the funny POS header, if I didnt mention that before)

Careful with the WD40....highly flammable. As far as the shield...you don't NEED to, it's just for heat and a little protection.
