typical starting problems... help?
hey all, i've got an 89 crx si with stock everything, just got it from a guy for 600 who swears it ran great before he parked it for a year. i can hear that the fuel pump isn't coming on when i turn the key to "start", so i pulled the main relay. its good, but i went ahead and put another new one in. no luck. so i guess the next step is to drop the tank and check voltage at the pump. is this a typical problem? also, any good tests to check for spark, etc? thanks a bunch, jon
yeah, the simple stuff is good. i've been the previous owner of some older vehicles... 40's jeeps, 60's cars, etc... so thats the knowledge base i'm coming from. i've got a list of "easy" tests to go through, but i'm afraid they may be a little antequated for this new car. i've got good battery (just charged), fresh tank (drained the old stuff, although i suspect the previous owner might have ruined the fuel pump with 'sitting for a year' gas), etc... i just want to know the basic tests for this type of car. are we getting spark, is the fuel pump getting voltage, etc. haha... i'm afraid i'll fry a computer or something. thanks for the input though. anything else?
