LAst week i had my A/C converted from R-12 to R-134a .(Accord '90 LX)
and i just noticed today that after i parked my car in the garage i can hear the fan still On or movin (the one near the radiator) even after i already turned off the engine and removed the keys from teh ignition., it took about 6 mins before it stopped...... I s this normal what shoudl i check should i bring it back to the mechanic who did the conversion my sis told me she heard the car did this thing even before i brought it for A/C refrigerant conversion and filling ... as always your help is appreciated more power people int his room

 

That is normal under hot conditions. You car has a termostat (to be more spefic its the one in the MIDDLE of the passenger side of the head) which will turn on the main cooling fan if the coolant outlet temperature is above 226 oF degress.

Is the car okay otherwise in reguards to temperatue?

 

My 95 Accord EX does the same thing. I dont think theres anything wrong with it. My brothers civic does the same thing too.

 

its on average just mid 70's outisde temp here in michigan right now but my car is parked under the sun the whole day like tonight i probably just drove 18 mi at 60's using the A/C but after i parked it i can still here the fan runnin for about 5-7 mins but i havent experienced any over heatin yet ( I do hope not) should i worry and what should i check thanks

 

would it be a thing to check or change im still using my winter coolant?(anti-freeze) and would it matter if i used recently a LUCAS uppe rcylinder additive>? ty

 

My car has done that once (to my knowledge) i had been driving my car for ~40ish mins, up hills the last 8ish or so of those minutes, parked the car, about 10 mins or so after i parked my car, the fans kicked on, i double checked to make sure i had my keys in my pocket, and I did. They ran for a bit, then turned off again.
