Default TODA or J's Racing Header for B18C5

I tried to search for anything on the J's Racing Header but all I could come up with is information on their Air Intake. I've really been leaning toward the TODA header due to my set up but some of the guys I keep in touch with said I should look into the J's Header. Has anyone had any experience with this header. The only + side I see right away is that the J's header is about 200/250$ cheaper than the TODA. Any info you guys have on this header would be appreciated. Here is a little background on the stuff I have done to my car:

B18C5
TODA Spec B's
Skunk2 Intake Mani
Erick's Racing Throttle Body 68mm
Erick's Racing Custom ECU
AEM CAI

I'm looking for the best overall power gains. Right now I have good mid and pretty good top end.

For about 1/3 the $ you can get the JDM DC headers which make about the same power

For the kind of $ Todas ect would run I would save up some extra $ and get Hytechs or there are some other brand by a guy on here named tran

If it's for a swap I would also definately recommend AN-R which is what I have and love to death yO!

Agreed... for the money you will spend on a TODA header, you could have a much nicer and will most likely produce better gains by getting a SMSP header.

if i were you, i would either go with

toda/sms/hytech

i prefer sms, as i am using it and the power gains of almost 25whp justifies its price and wait.

Don't skimp on the header. That has proven to be one of the biggest power adders on our engines. Someone on this board, forgot his sn, gained 22whp (somewhere around there) Just from an SMSP motor on a stock ITR motor. The JDM DC is a nice peice, but it's a toy compared to what's out there now. I would recommend SMSP / DTR / Hytech / Header-Tech.... Definitely worth the money IMO.

Umm.. Same power? I agree the DC JDM header is good for the money, but a Toda header will perform MUCH better across.
It comes down to money: Do you wanna spend $350-$400, or do you want the best and spend $800-$1200..

The TODA header is by far the best header you can buy off the shelf for a 1.8. As you all can see, in the great header test, on a Type-R engine, the toda header is neck and neck with the SMSP and actually produces more torque!

In this thread, it shows the toda header makes equal power as the hytech on a 1.8:

Toda header is no joke!

Also, that dynograph is farely old. Dave's newer header will no doubt will outperform the Toda. But like you said, off the shelf, it is no doubt the best you can buy. Toda makes great stuff.

Hell, buy a Comptech long-tube race header through me for less than the Toda.

So is it a safe bet to say that the J's Racing Header is definitely not the way to go. I've thought about the SMSP header but I am not quite sure where to get in contact with them. I'm willing to spend the $$ as long as the performance is there. Thanks again guys.

Ok, I appreciate all the info. But now I'm a liittle lost with this whole 4-1 and 4-2-1 deal. I've always been told that the 4-1 was the best for the most power on top. But looking at the header's that are available it sounds like a 4-2-1 can make almost the same if not more power than a 4-1. Can anyone give me a liittle big of guidance on this? I've heard so many different theories.

there is no set format for what makes power where.

that being said, most 4-2-1 designs are created with midrange in mind, while the 4-1 are created with top end in mind...for headers like the Toda this doesn't hold true though, so...

I highly recommend reading the header design articles over at Team-integra.net.

Can you show dyno's to support your claim? I've given 2 examples of the toda header neck and neck with both Hy-tech and SMSP header on 1.8 engines.

Thanks again guys for the info. Yeah, I didnt know J's made a header either until a couple weeks ago. One of my friends told me to check it out. I guess thats why no one really knows anything about it.
