Default wierd VTEC engagement

hey guys. i got a 92 civic hatch VX. in first and sometimes second gear, with the throttle at half and full (sometimes even depressed lightly), the VTEC engages very randomly on and off. and once it hits about 5 or 6 grand its stays ingaged. i know my car is throwing the codes for LAF (linear air fuel ratio) sensor and #1 pistion position sensor. im not sure if the bad position is the problem or the rich air/fuel because of bad sensor. thanks for the great help as always.

Default Re: wierd VTEC engagement (thehondabuddy)

engagement is dependent on throttle position (among other things).
