rattling TEINS...what to do?
was hearing a rattling noise comin from rear and i had my buddy drive while i listened and it is comin from my TEIN SS'. can i forget about it or is it something that can damage ****...i know this sounds like a repeatitive post but im concerned about my investment...it sounds like metal on metal 'clinging' evry time i go over bumps.. i can seriously care less about the sound itself its just i dont want it effecting the performance or life of the coilovers....thanx again and please no hammers....peace
Mine was doing that today onthe way home from work.
You should just be able to tighten up the nut on the top of the shock. Make sure that you hold the shaft so it doesn't spin

thanx for the replies...how do i get to the top nut? im very limited in tools and supplies...planning to invest on them soo. if the top nut is loose can damage be done already? thanx again
no damage, just noise. one way to check is expose the top of the shock. push down on the car, and if the you see the nut go up when you push down on the car, then you need to tighten it.
the nut doens't really go up it stays in the same place but the ... ahhh can't explain it...

lets say i just forget about the noise and drive my **** like its supposed to be driven ....will anything happen?? thas all i want to know...the dude who installed my **** just told me that he tightened everything including the nut and said there is no way to prevent the shaft from spinnig cuz u can damage the shaft if u use any type of plier. he said that he put the silver washer in the dust boot and the black on top of that so those cant be rattling.. i dunno
I wonder if the guy installed the coilovers with the rubber piece that is under the top cover? It sounds like maybe the spring is hitting against the top metal piece when the wheel / suspension drops for the bumps. My rear coilovers make a hell of noise when I hit bumps. They're cheapies from ebay and I'm riding OEM shocks. I remember you were asking all the questions just the other day because you were going to buy the Tein's. I feel bad that you shelled out so much $$ and having problems. I've got to follow this thread to see if you get the problem fixed since I plan to buy SS for my Eg sometime in the future.
Good luck!
PS <> Did the guy give you back your stock parts that were not used?
Springs, shocks, dust boot cover, bump stops, etc......?

I finally got the 4th coilover installed so I'm going to ride them for a bit. I have some financial situations I have to take care of at this time.
What all parts did you get back? If you can post pics of the parts giving back to you that would be good.
I will go with the teg SS

Are you sure it's the Tein's? Did you ask the guy at the shop about the noise? How low are you dropped?
