If I ever manage to get a real race car together that I feel needs to be painted, I'll either do it myself or let maco do it for $300. there was a good thread on doing it yourself just recently if you wanted to look back for it
Better get Maaco....
I just had ol' #72 painted up at the Maaco in Springfield. It's run by Gordon Wheaton, a former ITA RX-7 guy. Very helpful, very fast, and very cheap.
Just make sure you mask off what you don't want them to spray.

I use maaco manassas to do our race cars. And yes there typically is quite a bit of overspray. they do a reasonable job for reasonable money.

Talk to the guys at CDE motorsports. I saw a green EG hatch race car there that was flawless and they said that "It's some guy who is a freind of theirs"
I've painted two cars in my folks garage and they turned out decent but I wouldn't do it again. Too much friggin work

Roy's Auto Body in Stephens City, Va painted my H5 86 CRX. They did all preperation, and I even went from black to white. They also painted a spare fender and spare bumper for me. Total cost was ~900 and it was done in a week. There was some light filling and shaping done also, so if there is no damage, then it should be even cheaper....
Stephens City is 2 exits north after you hit 81 at the end of 66. About an hour from you..
Ohh yeah, no door jambs or underhood were done.

I'll find out the name of the bodyshop mine was done at. I had it done through a friend of a friend. He owns the shop, and seems pretty cool about handling race cars.

I know who does their paint jobs, and yes, they're all incredible. They have a "friend" at a dealership body shop over in Tysons that does it, but I don't think it'd be right of me to disclose the place. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the guy they know there...
