eh, why not: pics of nearly complete rollcage. HUGE pics

Driver side hoop attached to rear hoop. The brackets are me trying to figure how to install window net.

under dash bar connected to driver side hoop.

Here's the last piece that has to be completed. I want to get the NASCAR style bar, but, don't want to lose my window yet, since the car sits outside. I'll have it installed for next year's WCHC events..

passenger side cross. I'd like to get that reinforced.

The rollcage isn't very visible from outside of the car, thank god.
If you lose the lower portion of the door panel and make the window crank "temporary", you could get the bars out there pretty far and make it a compromise. Just a thought.
Love the yellow....

It does look like too much..but it looks like more than it is because it appears the belts are sagging. When tightened the angle would be less.
I'm looking at it again...the belts don't look saggy to me, check the 2nd pic look where the holes on the seat are compared with the harness bar...thats way too steep.
I would lower the seat or reweld the harness bar...just my thoughts though.
Or maybe wrap the belts over the top instead of the bottom? Might give you an inch of height.

I wonder about your harness bar-then again you are running Solo 2 and the rules are a bit different than Improved Touring and production. Take a look at both the simpson drawing on their site and the SCCA GCR. As to you overall setup-nice job. Wish we had been allowed to do to the dash what you did. Also my legs won't let me put the horizontal bar below the dash. The window net top mounts need to be on the outside of the hoop andthe front point should face down just before the point where the forward down tube turns to the floor.

it's saggy...
when tightened, they are just under a 45 degree angle.
the picture makes it look worse than it is.

To make it higher the cage would have to come down through the top of the dash with the crossbar behind the dash.

I think that if there's proper penetration, steel welds can be ground down without seriously compromising the strength of the weld. Aluminum on the other hand...
