Default went to the track..

Well, i went to the track tonight and was happy but wished i could do better. my best time of the night was a 15.28

i have greddy headers. aem intake, and apexi ws exhaust. what i dont get was after i got the 15.28, i lowerd my tire pressure to lower my 60', but it actually made my 1/4mile time worse after i lowerd the tirre pressure i couldnt do much better than a 15.5?? any reasons for this? i went from 35psi in the front to 30psi. i dont get it. i also had a trap speed once of 91mph, and a 1/4mile time of 15.7.. dosent seem right. i didnt have bad wheel spin either on take off. any ideas???

lower tire pressures means better launch but slower 1/4 times..its a trade off. the reason is its easier to spin a properly inflated tire vs a low tire pressure one..this means slower speeds at the end.

tire spin off the line = high trap speed...

low tire pressure = low trap speed

91 mph is a good trap speed. Practice those launches and you oughtta be in the 15 flat or high 14 zone.

This coming from a guy that can't drag race all that well.

Chris, next time try lowering your pressures to 20 psi and you should have some good launches. Great Lakes sucks in my opinion..... always too crowded and the track condition seems terrible. I won't be going back anytime soon.

What tires are you rolling on anyway?

concentrate on the light and your launches. its all about that 60' time, and everything comes into play from there...

my friend ran a 15.2 in a civic Si with I/H/E only so you should be running 14's - he lowered his tire pressure also. It was at great lakes that he did this
